United Synagogue Youth

imageUnited Synagogue Youth (USY) is a Conservative Jewish organization for teens in eighth through twelfth grades. It is affiliated with the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism.

Affectionately known as FLUSY (FLint United Synagogue Youth), our chapter of USY is a wonderful group of Jewish youth that all of CBI can be proud of. This year we have ten members.

They had an active year! Last August, two of our members attended Camp CRUSY. In September they had a kick-off hot dog roast. In October they had fun going to a haunted house and out for ice-cream with the Temple youth group. In December they volunteered at Toys for Tots. They also had a fun weekend retreat up north. September through January they ran the snack bar during Ivriah and gave the money to a needy family. In April three of our members attended the USY convention in Pittsburgh. In May they participated in Mitzvah Day and cleaned the Boys and Girls Club of Flint.

For more than fifty years USY has provided thousands of teens with a chance to explore Israel, Europe & North America. This summer hundreds of USY members were on the road and across the globe having the summer of a lifetime. Go to www.usy.org to read updates and see photos from this summer’s programs, and to learn more about USY.
